Charles Gray III Obituary (1980 - 2025)

Charles William Douglas Gray III, affectionately known as "Chuckie" to his loved ones, passed peacefully on January 16, 2025. Born on December 16, 1980, in Harlem, New York, Charles was a loyal son, a dedicated brother, a loving father, and a devoted husband. Charles was a pillar of his family; a man whose dedication and loyalty knew no bounds. His witty humor and kind heart left an indelible imprint on everyone he encountered. Charles was the embodiment of hard work, determination, and intelligence. He spent 44 years of his life in White Plains, New York, where he diligently served as the General Foreman of the Town of Greenburgh Water Department. His passion for his work was only rivaled by his love of football, a sport he not only enjoyed watching but also refereeing and coaching. Charles was also a skilled mechanic, known for his knack to fix motorcycles and cars, and a hobbyist carpenter. He found great pleasure in swinging his golf clubs. He was the proud past president of Players Kings & Queens Motorcycle Club in Yonkers, NY, and he was the Senior Warden of Corinthian Lodge #44, Ossining, NY PHA. As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience," - a motto Charles lived by every day. Charles was preceded in death by his father Charles W. D. Gray, Jr. and his grandparents Charles W.D. Gray, Sr. and Mae V. Gray and Martha Black Ragin, and his uncle Sidney L. Kennedy, Jr. and his aunt Vanessa Soyer. He is survived by his beloved wife Nicole of 22 years, and their three daughters, Nayla, Niya, and Nasia. He also leaves behind his mother, Mary Black;, his grandfather, James Black, Sr., his sister, Nakysha Gray (Kevin), his brother, Chad Gray, his caring in-laws Lonnie and Leslie Reel, Rickie and Stephanie Poston; along with his uncles Irving V. Gray Sr. (Jean) and James Black Jr., and his aunts Sally J. Kennedy, Eleanor (Gina) Hayes, Marguerite McFadden (Emanuel), Theresa Black, Sarah Wallace (Tyrone), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Charles W.D. Gray III was a man who truly lived his life with passion, dedication, and love.
